Last summer, I began remodeling my home in Utah. I met dozens of contractors. Most were very nice, but it was nearly impossible to compare Apples-to-Apples quotes from each of them.
Prices varied over 5x from the lowest to highest priced bids, and different contractors planned to use a wide range of quality materials and finishes across our home.
I come from the manufacturing industry. Prior to FindMyContractor.com, I ran EZ ICE (ezicerinks.com), where we manufactured easy-to-assemble backyard ice hockey rinks for tens of thousands of families across the USA & Canada.
In order to achieve our goals of getting 1 million kids Off the Device & On the Ice ™ and enjoying the thrills of skating in their very own backyards, we have had to manufacture dozens of different plastic and metal components from which our hockey rinks are assembled. For each component that we designed, we built RFQs (Requests-for-Quotes) to send to hundreds of manufacturers across the U.S. and beyond.
An RFQ is a concise document — often as short as one page — that outlines all of the required specifications for the component that we wished to manufacture including quantities, sizes, weights, colors, tolerances, locations and more. If we send an RFQ to one hundred manufacturers, ten might respond with a quote indicating their interest. And we usually engage five or so in negotiations in order to choose which two or three manufacturers we will ultimately give our business.
The RFQ process also lays the groundwork for a legal contract that results in both parties happy with the result. As a result, after over a decade in business, we have strong relationships with nearly every supplier with whom we have ever engaged.
At FindMyContractor.com, we are bringing the RFQ to the Home Improvement industry. Using FindMyContractor.com is insanely easy. Simply tell us a bit about the work that you need done, attach any relevant photos or videos, and we will build an RFQ to send to every known contractor in your area. This saves you the headache of explaining the same request to many different contractors.
Then, we retrieve quotes from contractors and after we ensure that they constitute an apples-to-apples comparison, we send them all to you. This allows you to make an informed confident decision for any home improvement project that you can imagine.
We don’t charge you or the contractors anything. In case you were wondering how we will make any money, we are building an optional proprietary quality assurance guarantee for homeowners and for contractors. We could not be more excited to share it with you soon.
We look forward to working with you, and we can not wait to see how happy you are with your new home after working with FindMyContractor.com.
